About BRET HARTMAN | 720.320.3516 | brethartman@mac.com
The one constant in the career of every photojournalist is the challenge to capture the unpredictable. A cool head and a steady hand is always the photographer’s sharpest tool.
Growing up in the Iowa heartland, a place of wide-open fields and tightly clustered communities, Los Angeles-based Bret Hartman developed the kind of sharpened vision needed to pick out the true image to tell the honest story. Early success with local newspapers encouraged Bret to look West. Loading up his cameras and loyal Bassett hound Sir Fergus, Bret headed to the California sun.
Now, with ten years experience as a photographer and photo editor, Bret’s images enjoy world-wide exposure with constant and wide-ranging assignments for The Associated Press. He is also a regular contributor to the Los Angeles Times, NBCUniversal and The Washington Post. In addition to photojournalism, Bret also performs commercial and lifestyle shoots for companies across the globe.
Whether capturing the frantic buzz of a Presidential campaign, a last-second touchdown at the Rose Bowl, or the subtle arch of a conductor’s baton, Bret has proven that his cool and solid Midwestern demeanor is his inside track when it comes to tackling the unpredictable, and telling a story with every image.
